How do I write a LinkedIn breakup message?

A breakup message tells them you will stop. That is the payload. "I'll assume this is not a priority and close the loop. If timing changes, I am easy to find." Then actually stop.

Sarcasm ("I guess you hate pipeline") is how you get screenshotted. Fake scarcity ("this offer expires tonight") from a stranger is noise. Polite and final gets the surprising "actually, now is fine" replies.

Send it once, after one or two real follow-ups, not as email four of seven. If you have nothing new to add, the breakup is the new thing.

If they already said no, you do not need a breakup. You need silence. Breakups are for no-reply threads.

Do not schedule another sequence that starts a week later unless they gave you a date. A breakup that is not a breakup is just another bump.

Frequently asked questions

No. They do not owe you a post-mortem. Leave the door open without an interrogation.

Skip it. You are closing. A link reopens the pitch.

Three to seven days is enough. A breakup three months later without a new signal is a cold start. Write a new first line instead.

Yes, even more so. Same tone. See how to write a cold email breakup.
